In its first week, Legendary and Warner Bros.' big-budget spectacle Godzilla vs. Kong has already earned more at the domestic box office than any other film opening during the pandemic era.

The film achieved the milestone on Friday upon finishing the day with a running total of $60 million.

The previous best showing domestically belonged to Christopher Nolan's Tenet, which finished its run with $58.5 million in ticket sales.

Globally, Godzilla vs. Kong should pass Tenet's global total of $365 million sometime next week.

Already exceeded Tenet domestic total, which is $58 million.

$297 million worldwide only after a week, passing Tenet is going to be pretty easy as well.
