This just seems like such an epic idea for a movie that it can’t be not be good no matter who makes it.

Same. I know it's only been two movies in so far but I've been enjoying the Monster-Verse. It's odd how WB handles this better than the current DC film series.

Saying that it's better than the DCEU films is setting the bar pretty damn low!

But yeah, "Godzilla" was surprisingly good, and "Skull Island" was okay. But IMHO "Godzilla" was good because director Gareth Edwards has some real talent, and made a finished film that was better than the script, and I don't know if he's still doing anything with the franchise. Will the franchise be good without his camera work? I don't know, but I'm willing to spend ten or twenty bucks to find out.

It helps that they only have two characters to crossover. Also, it's hard to derail the characters of Godzilla and King Kong as they are essentially just really big animals.
