Will there be a second Kong movie prior to this?

As we all know, Kong is about 200 ft shorter than Godzilla, so most of us are assuming that Kong will have to grow quite a bit in order to have a decent chance at defeating him. It would make sense to have a sequel to 'Skull Island' where they explain how he "grew up" (naturally or thru some other means) and then fill in what happened to him over that time. Perhaps even use it to explain how he will be getting off the island.

reply

Hey, if Kong grows any bigger he can just walk across the bottom of the sea!

reply

Why would they need to show that? Do you need to explain "how you grew up" to anyone? Seriously, he aged & got taller. That is all.

reply

Indeed, and why even have a KK vs Godzilla movie...they fought and Kong lost. No need to show it. Queue up Mecha-Godzilla for the third film.

reply

Kong won.

reply

So the Kong we say in Skull Island is just a youngster?

reply

Yes.

reply

And he was already a bad-ass.

reply

The original Kong is 200 feet shorter than the Big G, but Godzilla will be fighting the Skull Island Kong from 2017, who looked to me to be about the same size as Godzilla. What I want to know is how Kong is going to resist Godzilla's Atomic breath, which burned off the MUTO's head in Godzilla 2014.

reply

Probably by absorbing lightning, which gives him power while simultaneously hurting Godzilla.

reply

According to the old Japanese film. The new Kong has not shown any ability with lightning. I feel that Godzilla will not hit him directly with the atomic breath. After all he waited for the right moment to hit the Mutos with it in the 2014 film. He may sense that Kong is not an enemy after their first encounter. But, we shall see. Now the film has been pushed back to November

reply

It's canon!

reply

Because of one film? Hardly seems like canon to me. They needed a gimmick to level the field between Godzilla and King Kong.

reply

Yeah, if we took everything in those Japanese films as canon, Godzilla should be flying and talking and turning himself intro a magnet and doing god knows what else. I imagine in the new film Kong will use his monkey-like quickness to avoid Godzilla's breath. If Ghidorah can dodge it, so can King Kong.

reply

I agree
