What other thing would you like to see him debunk?

I think he should do an episode on auto myths in general, especially that you must change your oil every 3000 miles. You know who claims that? The oil change places. The manufacturers don't. Read your car's manual. Most modern day cars don't require an oil change until about 7000 miles, some as far as 10,000 miles.

reply

I seem to recall Consumer Reports covering that very thing nearly 20 years ago; their motor oil tests were conducted in New York City cabs, which are subjected to arguably the roughest daily driving conditions imaginable. They concluded that even under those conditions, changing the oil at 3000 miles was unnecessary, and even 5000 miles was pushing it; they also concluded that there was no measurable difference between brands, so you might as well buy the cheap stuff. On a somewhat related note, I used to change my own oil, but since a local garage I trust does it for around $30, I just spend the extra bucks and leave it in the hands of the pros...

Theme Parks. I don't know that's there's any huge misconception about them but it would make a fun episode.

Landmarks. Like the Hollywood sign and Statue of Liberty. Just funny the way he explained them.

Basketball/NBA. It's the only sport I follow and there's a lot of things that annoy me.

Area 51. A lot of people think they hide evidence of aliens (myself included). That would interesting.

Also:

Valentine's Day - It's the next holiday, and people need to stop making such a fuss over it already...

Air travel - Airports were already dealt with in the security episode, but air travel needs to be deconstructed as well...

Gambling - Not just the misconceptions dealing with odds and whatnot, but also the truth behind state lotteries as well...

Insurance - What are we really paying so much for, anyway?

Political correctness - This would be a good chance for the series to show that the writers aren't as biased as some think...

That's why they won't do that one.

However, I vaguely recall in an early promo, he was going around to strangers blurting out facts. And one fact was "ruining" the myth that GMOs are inherently bad. That was 5 seconds. He could spend some more time on that one.

Religion. He should do a show debunking organized religion. I bet there's a lot to talk about on THAT topic.

the liberal pet cause of Head Start, to counter his 'debunking' of D.A.R.E. in the Drugs ep

maybe do a whole episode on education - charter schools; separating the sexes in class; the value, or not, of incessant testing; the real reasons (gov't-backed student loans) behind the cost of college; the overwhelmingly leftist slant of teachers & professors

reply

- Big Pharma, and how they create 'disorders' (things that do exist, but aren't 'diseases,' they may be annoying problems, but hardly in need of the drugs being peddled for them, which often have side effects much worse than the thing they're supposed to treat), so they can sell you drugs for them

- psychology & psychiatry, and how much they do or don't actually help people, as opposed to, say, having a few close friends and family members to discuss your problems with, who don't charge you hundreds per hour, and keep you coming back for years, without much change

- the history of sexual(ity) and gender problems in the DSM, and how and why disorders really get added to, and removed from, it (popular vote, heavily based on current political correctness/public opinion)

- the real lifestyles and life histories of rap and hip hop artists (this is especially for the suburban white kids who idolize them, and think they're so cool, and that, because of these folks' hard lives, as told in their music, they should feel even worse about their 'white privilege')

- what the Democrat Party has really done 'for' minorities, blacks specifically, in exchange for their almost blind loyalty voting block (higher poverty/need for welfare/food stamps, higher unemployment, fathers out of the home/out of wedlock births)

- the real opinions, beliefs, and goals of Margaret Sanger, and the origins and of Planned Parenthood

- the true history of the land some want to call "Palestine," and the actual geographic/ethnic origins of the peoples currently referred to as "Palestinians," and the violent history of the failure of giving up land for peace

....now, I should add, based on the few eps I've seen of this show, I don't really expect him to tackle any of these subjects, at least not truthfully, but, I can dream, can't I?

I'd like to see Adam ruins religion, specifically islam. He sidestepped this majorly when he did Adams Ruins Death in December 2015. One excuse could be that this religion topic by itself is its own half-hour's worth of material, if not one hour's worth of material.

Of course he'll offend so many, and those islame-ic mfers will have him on their evil radar as they do with anybody who says anything negative about prophet mohamed, BUT IT'D BE SO NICE TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THE FAKENESS OF RELIGION. All religion is fake, and Adam Conover would do a great job explaining its fraud thoroughly.

He'd probably just blatantly lie to defend them and claim these people are somehow the "victims".

I don't care about a troll who doesn't pay for his opinion telling me how to review movies.

That was already covered in the nutrition episode...

Paparazzi and modern "news" in general. He could talk about how many so called "news" outlets will literally make up stories, regardless of if those stories are based on fact or not. He can also talk about how, especially in the entertainment sector, such "news" outlets as Radar Online, TM, etc. will even go so far as to pay people to use their names, their stories, etc. He can completely debunk how it all works.

He can also go into detail on real vs. fake news, how the latter became so popular, ways to avoid it, and which news sources are trustworthy and which aren't. Then again, depending on who owns TruTV (Time Warner), I wonder if such an episode would even be possible.

to add to your overall idea, he should include who (at least at the time of filming) ultimately owns each 'news outlet', and their affiliations (both the owners', if publicly stated, political leanings, and other entities they own)

reply

I want him to do "Adam Ruins Men" and Emily to do "Emily ruins Women"

reply

Adam will probably lie about it.

One episode on fake news and how 24 hour news channels have ruined news.

I would love to see them do an episode on college sports and how big of a fraud it is.
