is everything I hate about modern movie making...

If it is CHANGING everything, why call it what you are calling it?

THE "Charlie's Angels" was nothing more than sexy, eye candy models, doing smart, crime fighting stuff. The end.

THIS one aims to CHANGE all that. Why? I don't know. You tell me.
If you CHANGE something so much, it is no longer what it once was. That's what CHANGE is.

Not me, but these notes are stripped from a usatoday article....

"let viewers know that these Angels aren't quite the untouchable heroines of the previous movies and 1970s television show"
- so... it's no longer Chalrie's Angels, right? Ok, got it.

"This time, though, the stars seem a little more like women you might know, complete with struggles, quirks and flaws."
- so... it's no longer Chalrie's Angels, right? Ok, got it.

says Banks. "That's really what that moment is about: Acknowledging fluidity, which is also very modern."
- so, this isn't Charlie's Angels, right, but a documentary on current events? Ok, got it.

"Gone is the famous '"Charlie's Angels' pose," where three women kneel with finger guns pointed or stand in prayer posture."
- so... it's no longer Chalrie's Angels, right? Ok, got it.

"teamwork they employ? It's used to fight misogynistic men, naturally."
- so, this isn't Charlie's Angels, right, but a documentary on current events? Ok, got it.

"The movie "has none of those tropes that the series has had in the past,""
- so... it's no longer Chalrie's Angels, right? Ok, got it.

Why are they even making this if it is NOT "Charlie's Angels"?

These productions keep CHANGING everything, but leeching onto previous titles. Call it something new if it is something new. Strip away everything that makes it what it was, and it IS NO LONGER THAT.

Some one is supporting these. Who? Who doesn't see this obvious plain truth playing out? Are we that desparate for ANY kind of action entertainment.... especially if it uplifts women... that we support total crap where they change EVERYTHING that makes it what it is? or was, I mean.

I'm not against women, im not against diversity, im against CHANGING things so far from what they are, it is barely recognizable anymore. Surely, some other logical, thinking people out there understand what I am saying here.

Interesting point.

I don’t know who this is supposed to appeal to. Younger demographic doesn’t know the original TV show, probably doesn’t care about the 90s movie.
It’s another example of studios being afraid to just make something new. In this case an action movie with 3 female leads. They’re milking the brand but changing it to something they think is modern. It’s possible it’ll be good, but unlikely

Exactly. Thank you for understanding this. Why it weirds me out, is why do people put up with this and support it? Is it just bandwagoning guilt? "Support ANYTHING female power based?" I'm not against females or their power, but against senseless changes and really bad movies.

The thing I find interesting is that the setup for the TV series is better than the setup for this film from a feminist point of view.

The feminist POV is that women are better than men in power give them credit for. This film's setup is that each of these women are the "smartest and most highly trained women from all over the globe". So the women are already respected.

The TV series is that each of the women were in thanks less jobs that did not take advantage of their skills until they were recruited into the Townsend Detective Agency. It was the series whose POV is "do not underestimate women" but it the film's POV that women are already respected.
