Great villain

Okay, Ross is no Darth Vader, but he's just the villain this story needs.

So basically, Ross Hargrave is a low-level news reporter who's looking for his big break. When he hears that Princess Katherine (Kate) of Montceri is lost in New York, he thinks he's found his big break. He puts aside his own girlfriend and friends to make this story his obsession.

The best part is near the end when he tries to confront her at Harry's magic shop. His obsessiveness is hilarious, and he clearly sees Kate as his meal ticket rather than, well, a person. He makes the mistake of telling Emily, the girlfriend that this is more important than the two of them and ends up locked in a cabinet. Ha!

You don't really see characters/villains like this on Hallmark. Understandable, Hallmark is family-friendly, so you're not going to see many deep-complex villains on the channel (especially in a Christmas movie), and while I wouldn't call Ross complex, he does have a story arc and a goal which ends in his hilarious downfall due to his obsession.

Well-played, Hallmark.
