1st episode - where did Nick go?

I'm confused about something. After Phil visits Nick at work, Phil goes to look for his father. First place he goes to is his father's place and see that the place has been trashed. Then he goes where? Where was the Haitian guy waiting for him? He has a key but it's not his place.
