There is nothing, other than the character names that comes close to the series. The three main actors are great, and I particularly like Ruth as Tulip better than her counterpart. I'm almost finished with season one and baffled by the storyline. Emily and the mayor? Who TF are they? Where the hell is Featherstone and Herr Star???? Among other mysteries. SO disappointing.

Season 1 is essentially a prequel to the books, but don't expect a literal translation of the books. Starr and Featherstone appear starting in Season 2.

I quit after the second season. The "Preacher" comic series is one of my favorite. The tv series, as adapted, was unwatchable.
