question for fans of the show?

is this anything like Supernatural, The X-files or Charmed?

and what I mean is Obviously I know its not about Aliens...But I enjoy Series where the Lead characters fight Supernatural creature or people....

I enjoy the episodes of Supernatural, The X-files or Charmed where they are fighting ONE OFF demons,creatures,vampires, ghosts and so on much more than the episodes that deal with the Mythologies....

I know Preacher has to have an over Mythology but are there Episode where He just fights different creatures or Supernatural threats?

Each season is one long story arc.There aren't any stand alone episodes really.

there's a lot violence.Mainly the fights are with other humans but occasionally there is a fight with a supernatural entity.

There are fights between Jesse and evil beings. Don't know how much it is like those shows mentioned since I don't watch any of them.

While it is certainly supernatural, I would say its not like any of those shows. Its a comic based show, depressing at times, you struggle to like some of the "heroes". I have watched the first two seasons but I am having trouble trying to get up the energy to start the third season. I would say both Supernatural and Xfiles are more entertaining shows.

If you think this is depressing, then you haven't seen Carnivale. One of the best supernatural shows but set in the depression era, it can be quite depressive. I find Preacher very upbeat and comical especially compared to the HBO show.

It has its moments of humor, but not enough to be classified as upbeat as its mostly dark humor. I have not seen this season, I just havn't been able to bring myself to watch it so it may have improved. I don't care for Jesse, and dislike Tulip and those are two of its primary cast members, so I am sure that is effecting my overall impression of the show. I have not seen Carnivale.

I guess I'm used to dark humor in that I can find it upbeat somehow.

And if your dislike for Preacher is more due to not liking the main characters than it's dark tone, perhaps you'll like Carnivale far far more. It really was a fantastic show.

It's more similar to Carnivale. And yes it has a supernatural bent and he battles supernatural elements/beings.

Btw, if you haven't seen HBO's Carnivale, you really should.
