I'd like to see another series but...

...judging from the message board buzz, I take it I am in the minority.
Well anyhow, I really enjoyed the show. I recognize it for the escapist mindless fluff that it is, but like it nonetheless.

Doesn't seem that it was all that popular though, and if they did come out with a series 2, I would be SHOCKED

I am hopeful Sky wont care and does a second series anyway.

Couldn't agree more, it was something nice and simple and easy to follow. I know it was made as a bit of a joke, but I still found it enjoyable to watch, and I even laughed a couple of times! I really hope they do do a second series.

Hoping the numbers from the US when it's available on Amazon's Acorn TV will boost the chances...

reply

I agree.
The books are full of t same lightheartedness and fun.
It's not about the murders so much as Agatha and her life and loves in the village of Carsley.
The earlier books are best.
I do think the episodes were too rushed...they could have easily made them 2 hours long like the pilot.

It is comedy, not drama. With a starring role for the Cotswolds.
Mindless entertainment...but in a good way.

This article says (at the bottom) "returning series Agatha Raisin and Fortitude"...

Even when I was reading the books I couldn't quite picture Agatha. I think she's portrayed perfectly here. The entire cast and setting seem spot on but especially the portrayal of Agatha Raisin. I'm watching it on Acorn and am just halfway through the pilot but I'm looking forward to more episodes.

I can't believe I signed in just to post this, but Amazon does not own Acorn. In fact, seeing links to Acorn from Amazon is a very recent phenomena.

reply

Right. Amazon does not own Acorn. Amazon recently started offering subscriptions to other streaming services to its users. So you can now get Showtime, Acorn, etc via your Amazon membership. Though, you have to pay the regular subscription fee. I've had acorn for a couple of years not and I did a trial membership at Amazon for it anyway. I didn't see any extra benefit to doing it through Amazon as opposed to going directly to Acorn. I had the same experience with Showtime. I get free OnDemand via my cable company. There was no advantage to doing it via Amazon.

Anyhoo....

I loved the series. I would like another season as well.

I don't trust people who don't like pets and I don't trust people who pets don't like.

It's now being broadcast on my local PBS channel and I am finding it be enjoyable fluff.

reply

Is like a second series, too, this show is my guilty pleasure- perf ct intellectual popcorn

I've read most of the books (yes, mindless fluff), and the series is much better! I adore Ashley Jenson and her depiction of the tough and clumsy Agatha. I definitely hope there's a second season!

reply

I like the series better than the books as well. Beaton goes to extreme lengths to keep characters apart or make a mystery more absurd. I like that the show keeps Agatha's lovable, quirky traits, and those of her neighbors, without giving into the weird melodrama.

reply

He can sell it and show it on Acorn TV or Netflix or Amazon then people can watch what they like.

reply

Loved to see the second season

Acorn USA user, via Amazon, here. Ashley isn't exactly who I thought Agatha is but she's close. Was especially looking forward to the Birmingham/posh accents mentioned in the books but they didn't happen.

I like what they've done with Wilkes and the Rev. Bloxby. Cotswold village not what I expected. Why do Brits hate trees?
