Bizarre

Well episode 2 was odd to say the least. I am rereading Birds Beasts and Relatives at the moment (second book in Gerald Durrell's Corfu books) and just read the story about Max/Donald as well as the Sven one. What was on screen was not based on the book. In the slightest.
Max was the tall blonde _Austrian_ and Donald was the uninteresting Briton and Margo had no interest in them at all! Max managed to wake Mrs Durrell who had a bad cold when they arrived late at night and kept calling her "Muzzer".
Sven was another of Larry's (apparently inexhaustible supply) of friends who played Bach for Mrs. Durrell over an hour long on the accordion on their first meeting.

I didn't realize this was actually new stories as written by Simon Nye remotely inspired by the books and using similar characters.

It's not great but it's not bad so far. The first episode was worth a 8 and the second a 7.

I think it's absolutely awful. Nothing like the books at all. I'd give it 0 if they had a 0 rating on here.
