That kid has to stop locking up wildlife!

All those poor creatures stuck in cages. I was terrified for the owlets! Then the older brother killed the bat, and he got all sanctimonoius. Sheesh kid that bat would have been fine if you just left it in its natural world.

He took the owlets! Stupid! There won't be an animal left in Corfu.

And the family barely has enough to eat or even run a sanitary house, and Gerald keeps a zoo? Please.

reply

In real life, they had enough to live on comfortably in Corfu, they were certainly never short of food, in the books Mother is always cooking enormous delicious meals.

well, when he grew up he become an animal, collector for zoos, and then started his own zoo on Jersey, which is still there. He had nothing against caging animals if they were properly looked afte, he tjought zoos should be places of conservation. ss a child though i don't think he had many caged pets, the only caged ones I remember reading about are the magenpies, who were caged after they wrecked havoc in larry's room.

This was my initial reaction too. The kid is taking animals from the wild and effectively putting them in prison. This is how he demonstrates his love for animals?

Thankfully, he's beginning to realize what he's doing is cruel and is entertaining the notion to release them. Will his selfishness be stronger than his compassion? Tune in next season to find out.

You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU ... WILL ... ATONE!

He said he captures them because he wants to study them.

You seem to forget that the story takes place in the 1930s. Nobody would have batted an eyelid about caged animals back then.
