I think it is pretty funny when Lindsay talks with her Grandfather, played by Christopher Lloyd, about her missing the three years. He laughs off the possibility of time travel. I am guessing this part was written specifically for Chrstopher Lloyd since he was Dr. Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future movies.

shareNot actually "irony" (more of an allusion), but I loved that too. And the casting of William Shatner was similar because he was in two episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959), and this movie is like a long episode of TZ.
