Mrs. Jamison
I was hoping at the end Mrs. Jamison would have taken a carriage ride. She could have chosen the life she wanted...it could have spawned a movie based on her youth.

Second I saw your post I realised that this would be a great idea for a follow up movie.
Si vis pacem, para bellum
The main plot, of course, is another take-off of It's a Wonderful Life (1946), and the Mrs. Jamison subplot is similar to Ebenezer Scrooge, where he's mean and later we find out why he got that way - and then he changes for the better.
