I had the same feeling walking out of the IMAX theatre. It was a waste of time. I can't understand how this movie is having a rating of 8.0 on imdb?

shareI did not like this movie either, Nolan movies are generally very intelligent and thought provoking but this was just a loud action film. Nolan really dropped the ball on this one. Hope Tenet is better and it can be, I didn't think Insomnia was that good especially after Memento but Nolan did recover.

There's plenty of story in Dunkirk. You're following one soldier trying to make it home off the beach, Tom Hardy in a fighter plane and a civilian boat on their way to Dunkirk. The main complaint you'll see is lack of dialogue and character development, but I don't know why people have been conditioned to think movies need to meet certain quotas or standards to be considered good. This is how Nolan wanted to tell the story and adding in scenes to show something like how Tom Hardy has a wife and kid waiting at home doesn't necessarily make it a better movie.
