disjointed incoherent and noisy

it was hard to watch with constant loud background music and inaudible dialogues.
nolan fanboys and other idiots will definitely like this.

You mean...like war?

reply

Exactly!

I've seen in in IMAX and remember taking a physical beating from the first gunshot onwards... It was visceral... So appropriate...

I've even upgraded my system at home as a result, in order to attempt to do such movies justice...

reply

Yes. If you haven't seen it in IMAX, then you haven't seen it the way it was meant to be.

reply

I've only seen it on TV, and yeah, it took me about ten minutes to realize that the movie probably had a hell of a lot more impact on the big screen.

Most films these days are made to play on both the big and small screen, this one was kind of an exception.

reply

If you have a good enough system...decent sized 4K TV and surround system you can still get a decent approximation of the cinema experience.

I loved it, but I understood the director's intention and never expected a traditional war movie.

And I was always kind of surprised that people had an issue with the different timelines...it really was not that difficult to figure out.

And besides...that sort of structure is what you should expect from Nolan...he has done many similar things in previous movies.

reply

Yes it was too noisy I agree.

reply

worst movie ever...

I despair with IMDb and film opinions, why is that incoherent and noisy Endgame an 8.7 whilst Dunkirk is a 7.9? The problem is viewers want every war film to be like Saving Private Ryan when every war film before it was light on blood and gore. Dunkirk reminds me of a more old school, atmospheric war film like Paths of Glory. I really enjoyed it.

reply

Saving Private Ryan had a story, thats what made that film better , not extra "gore" .
There is a story of Dunkirk , a true one , but this film totally failed to tell it.

reply

Yeah, Endgame only deserved a 7/10
... but Dunkirk only deserves a 5/10. Effective use of sound and a few inspired moments do not a good movie make.
