Where's Michael Caine?

Come on. We want him. It's his life's mission to appear in every Nolan film.

reply

No sign of Caine so far. They did do some filming in a WB studio in LA. We don't know what they filmed in there.

reply

I can but live in hope for Sir Michael to appear in this.

reply

I wouldn't be surprised if he's in a flash forward to the present, at the end maybe, playing one of the soldiers that made it, maybe looking out towards France from a beach in Dover.

Or maybe reading something at the end over the credits. He's got the perfect voice for some sort of sombre send off to the soldiers of WW2.

Much as I think Michael Caine is wonderful, I don't think there can be a great deal of doubt that the appropriate voice and words at the end of this particular film will be those of Churchill himself. And most particularly this of course:

Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender

My Cocaine!

He's playing Churchill in a cameo, just like DiCaprio is playing Hitler in one very memorable scene.

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

I heard the scene wasn't so memorable, just like Ass Crap starring Fassbender 

I'm glad that my persona forced you to come into this board. Maybe after hearing about Dunkirk you'll finally watch something intelligent in theaters, because apparently you're not gonna watch Assassin's Creed, Burden of my soul.

Nolan, I love you forever!

Oh he's still there in a cafe in Florence, day after day sipping Fernet Branca.

Hah, I like that idea!

However, I'm quite confident that we'll see him in "Dunkirk."

reply

It's very hush hush but Michael Caine is supposed to have a cameo as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

reply

3 years on and I guess everyone knows that you get to hear his voice in the cockpit of one of the spitfires early on as a radio commander communicating with the fighter pilots.

reply

Correct

reply

Yeah... while Caine is a Nolan regular, finding an excuse to squeeze an eighty something into Dunkirk would have been difficult.

reply

No, It would have been Super Easy, Barely an Inconvenience.
