I may have missed something but how the hell does Petes " family" believe he is Pete??? He has been away for 20 years and people dont change that much?

Fill the gaps in if i have missed something. ???

A person's appearance can change between 11 and 31. He slightly resembled the real Pete, and the family has no way of knowing the difference in hight and such. Plus... It's a TV show. Miraculous stuff can happen
