That's funny..and the only non-aussie actor on this show is the black girl who is actually canadian.
everyone on this show uses a bad american accent..except maybe julian mcmahon but even he slips at times.
there's even one obvious aussie actor on this show who doesn't even hide his accent because he probably sucks at using one. they should have just made this show in Canada..🐻
British people on British shows aren't portraying Americans, maybe the rare occasion there's some comedy value in it.
I find the bad American accents in this show really distracting from an otherwise interesting story.
No excuse for a bad accent in a TV show these days, look at Hugh Laurie and Andrew Lincoln. As a Brit I was very surprised when I found out that Peter Dinklage was an American.
Their job is to convince us of the characters, the location of the production company or the set is irrelevant.
Who cares? It's a small world nowadays. Supernatural has nearly all American actors and is filmed in Canada.
But the American actors in Supernatural are playing Americans, unlike the Australian (and one Canadian) actors on Hunters playing Americans. That's the unusual part. I do agree with you that it doesn't matter, though. As long as it works, then I'm happy.
I agree with you that it is odd how they didn't push the actors to employ more American sounding accents given that they set the show in the U.S.
Regarding Supernatural, the leads and most of the regular cast are American but the bulk of the other roles are definitely done by Canadians (both born and naturalized). A lot of them appear in the Lifetime stuff as well as SyFy Channel stuff.

That's true and has been the case since at least the '90s. Orphan Black, for example, is a Canadian show, but I believe they are supposed to be set in the US. Yet, it doesn't seem weird like Australians impersonating Americans due to Canada's similar-like (except for Quebec) accents.
These accents are better than the American accents were on Dominion. It seems to me that Australians are usually better at faking American accents than Brits.
