Black culture thing or something

With a token Oscar. Nice. Now can they make movies again where skin color doesn't matter so much? I liked "Green Book" because it depicts a mix. I like "Shaft" because it's stereotypically cool. I like "Mississippi Burning" because assholes get justice. But series like "Atlanta" are made just for black people, keeping them in the illusion that nothing is ever going to change. This "Moonlight" is supposedly the same stuff. Blacks having it unavoidably tough. Movies should further us, not hold us back.
There is only one human race after all. The rest is up to us.

I didn’t see it as a black movie. What I saw was a moving exploration of a young man surviving poverty, his mother’s drug addiction and prejudice against his sexuality. There was much I could relate to in it and I’m not black, or American for that matter. I think the themes can easily be applied to many races and cultures. If people like you want to write it off in such simplistic terms then so be it, your loss really.

I’m late discovering it but still, it was easily the best film I’ve seen this year. 5/5 for me.

Then don't watch it?

If black culture can't be explored then no culture can be explored. Why is it that other people get to do that but black people can't? That's what it sounds like you're saying. So let's just explore no cultures at all. And if you don't like it don't watch it.
