7/10: Thriller with a smile.

7/10

In short: A Thriller made with "a smile" that is in line with "classical" Hollywood actions/comedies in cinematographical style and advancement of the plotline. The 2 hours seems well adjusted to the plotline and the events unfold as they should (it's decently edited). You will get the classical explanation to the plottwists in the movie, which if you payed attention should not be needed.

In long: The amount of plotwists and the emphasis on them will detract fromt he storyline somewhat, overall the sound is well adapted to the storyline - a little more use of a silent backdrop could not have hurt.
The choice to tone down the colours is a standard way of doing thrillers, in this movie it is a bad choice because of how it plays out - it feels like it forces itself to be something it really isn't.

This should be a decent 6 but the performances by the actors pushes it over to a 7, if you like this type of feelgood movie it might even be an 8.

Pro's
Original and strong performances by the two leads
Supporting cast.

Con's
Too many clear twists (and a couple that might surprise)
Product placement (phones and cars mainly, though the Audi seemed rather in place which bothered me even moreso)

End note (warning might ruin the value of the movie for you): If you want to have your cake and eat it the movie can be read in two ways if you have a darker soul (what happened and what should have happened after each other), making the latter stages of the movie a fiction of the mind (as there are even a couple of missing parts that would stop a notion of that).

Ignorance is only a bliss if you haven't reached awareness.
My imdb posts are getting altered.
