Hipster Trash

1) London would NEVER fall for Chip. Some things simply cannot be forgiven or forgotten. If she were, in fact, able to get past their baggage, then she has issues beyond anything they have even hinted at yet.

2) The soundtrack throughout the show made me feel like I was at a REALLY BAD open mic night at the local college coffee shop.

3) The cop kicking in the door waving around his gun. Yeah. That was hilarious.

4) The closing speech made the entire town completely sell out on their love of Venice? Except, of course, the two people there who we, the viewer, know.

5) "Did he tell you?" She has a MAJOR secret that she has kept buried for 10 years, yet she blabs it without a thought like that? Piss-poor writing.

True.

2) The soundtrack throughout the show made me feel like I was at a REALLY BAD open mic night at the local college coffee shop.

Most of the time I didn't even realise there was one. It sounded like noise in the background.

3) The cop kicking in the door waving around his gun. Yeah. That was hilarious.

So funny.

Agreed.

Some people have a hard time keeping a secret and it eventually breaks.

1) Yeah, I was thinking a better plot would have been London getting close to Chip to exact even more evil if he weren't sufficiently punished by what he had done, and then having London find out that it wasn't actually Chip who did the deed.

2) See the recent Portlandia skit about Premium Cable theme music. ;-)

3) Some sponsors have a God complex with their pigeons, so I could easily see george messing with Chip that way.

4) So I take it that Venice was the former Hippy area that was then taken over by Yuppies who wanted instant street cred. Every town I have lived in has that type of neighborhood. In Cleveland it was Coventry, in Portland it is Hawthorne (or NW trendythird). The old hippies also move back in now that they have retired from their careers as brokers and they desperately try to recapture the 60's. It is so ironic to see the new people price out the very people they wish to emulate. Would a show like Portlandia work with Venice as a backdrop? I personally don't think that Portlandia goes far enough. I was watching an ep at Fourbux the other day only to realize the current skit was filmed a few blocks up 28th from where I was sitting.

5) I don't think the whole thing about "the secret" was written very well. I will have to rewatch. Was the person who was killed driving a Silver Accord and is that why it stands out to Chip? Maybe they could have set it up as the person killed was changing a tire by the side of the road, thus could be killed and yet the car remains intact. It seemed like we went from A to D to G to M with a bunch of missing steps, but then, this isn't really a murder mystery where that stuff is the prime importance.

4) Venice is hipster trash, ever been there, date a girl from there, and all that. I have... only worse places are Oregon, San Francisco, and obviously Austin.

Hipster maybe, but not trash. Venice is probably the hottest real estate market in the US and that's not a new thing. A tiny little run down box of a house (like the one Chip lives in) would cost near a million dollars there. The rent for that "store" of his would be at least $3K a month and that's being conservative. Good luck being "trash" there.
