Flaked vs Master of none vs Love

I personally enjoyed this show way more than Master of None. I couldn't even finish MoN, I found it so boring and without a story line. At least flaked is set in a nice sunny place. Now, I have not seen Love but I have not ven been tempted to watch it. Is it any good?

For those who have seen all 3, how would you classify them?

They're all great additions to the Netflix lineup. "Flaked" is the most layered of all three in my opinion. The character development, balance between comedy/drama is spectacular. "Love" has all the relatable aspects most people in successful/failed relationships have gone through. They maybe to the extreme in some cases, but it still remains grounded. That's what makes it a great piece of work. "Masters of None" is fun to see Aziz's opinion/ take on a variety of issues we all face in a serialized form. Overall, I applaud Netflix in their experimentation of projects and producing edgy quality content.

I think I liked that about masters of none that it was a bit boring. It was a show about a bunch of friends who have strange conversations without a kramer character or anyone too wacky. That and love felt more relatable as I have these weird types of conversations with my strange friends opposed to some ex stand up comedian and his struggles even though I love louis and curbs.

Love was boring, I couldn't finish it.
Masters of None had it's moments but it was really poorly acted most of the time and didn't hit the real emotional depths it was trying to hit and the "profound" moments were obvious and shallow. It was good for a few laughs only.
Flaked is the best of the three so far. It balances comedy and drama the best and does them both well.
But the best dramady on Netflix is still easily BoJack Horseman. So good on Will Arnett

Finished all of them and liked them all. Love is my favorite but im 30 and live in LA and i think i connect to the characters more than other people may. Masters of None started off really slow and kinda dull but picked up and was really good. Flaked was the same thing, started off slow but got better. The writing is a little corny and i have a hard time taking Will Arnett seriously in the more dramatic scenes. Some of the storylines are just ridiculous and the writing is silly and pretty shallow but i still enjoyed it a lot. MoN is the most outright funny, Love was the most well rounded and relatable, and Flaked was probably the most interesting, but barely. The writing is just pretty basic and takes a lot of leaps with the plot. Love had some episodes and scenes that were really moving and blew me away. There was only a few times in Master and Flaked that made me feel that way.

I've watched all three. I did like Love the best, it pretty much hooked me right away. That show was just very realistic and relatable to me. Master of None was enjoyable, yet not fantastic. I think the acting may have been lacking somewhat for me there, but the writing was great. Flaked, to me, was a slow burn. The first half of the season I kind of had on in the background while I was working on other things, and it never fully grabbed my attention. But the last 3 episodes were amazing and were worth sticking around for. I'm very hopeful for a second season because I want to know what happens to Chip and Co.

I havent watched Flaked yet but i did enjoy both Love and Master Of None.

I think MoN is slightly better than Love but thought both were worth watching. Love felt a little more unrealistic and some of the situations were a bit over the top. Master of None to me was more relatable if that makes sense.

I liked the intergenerational-cultural aspects of Master of None.

I think my percentage of Chimp DNA is higher than others. Cleaver Greene

For me its MON, Love, Flaked. I liked all of them, just differently. Its like Netflix said hey lets pretend we're NBC and make some really awesome sitcoms. Its like i could see them all existing on Thursday night where you still wanted to watch a block of comedies.

I think thats how i will rewatch them, one by one after another. I likened them all to Netflix being the home of Urban Hipster Comedies. Trying the Characters now.

I've watched Master of None and Flaked. I liked them both pretty much equally, even though they're not the most exciting things to come out of TV - or Netflix for that matter.
Master of None had more comedy, and the cultural/ethnic aspects that were really well-developed, but hadsubpar acting and cinematography. Flaked was maybe less original and funny, but I find it was intriguing and I ended up watching the latter episodes with more anticipation than I expected.

What I don't get is why Master of None was universally well-received while Flaked is being unanimously panned by the critics.

Is this really down to the ethnic aspects? I don't get it...

reply

I don't think it's the ethnic aspects, I felt like I related to MoN way more than Flaked even though I look much more like Will Arnett than Aziz haha. In my opinion Love blew them all out of the water, but for me Flaked was the least intriguing of any of them. MoN probably had the worst acting but it had a lot of truly funny people in the cast and at least seemed to touch on a lot of the research in the book Modern Romance its somewhat based off of, so maybe since I read that I liked it more? Who knows, but I wanted to love Flaked since Arnett is one of my favorites but I just could not get into it and stopped watching after 4 episodes. I'll probably finish it soon but I love watching a Netflix series before bed and I just couldn't stick with this, silver lining though is that ended up watching Stranger Things instead.
