Powerful film

Watched this tonight. Powerful film with an excellent performance by Danielle Deadwyler, definitely one of the top 5 best performances by a lead actress this year. Although it wouldn't make my personal top 10 of the year, I do think it is a better film than potential best picture nominees like Avatar: The Way of the Water, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, and Top Gun: Maverick. My rating is an 8/10.

Well, it got snubbed by the Oscars. Along with The Woman King. Guess the Academy is not as "woke" (wink wink) as all the alt-righties complained it was.

This movie is full of lies and untruths and its racist.

reply

Why can't you list a single lie or untruth then? Which scenes are racist?

reply

What lies did it tell specifically? How is this movie racist but the people who killed Emmett Till aren't? The movie thankfully didn't show any of the torture Emmett endured, but it was grotesque. You can't tell me a white kid who did the exact same thing would have received the same treatment. So how is the movie racist by showing characters do things they actually did?
