So what's next? (Spoiler)

So what's next now that we found out the good place is actual hell. So now what will happen in season 2?

Is there a season 2? After that reveal at the end I really can't imagine a season 2 know that we know what's actually going on. I think the cat was let out of the bag because that's it.

Season 2 could be them remembering everything and trying to find a way out or maybe even make this all part of the test as well but I don't think it will be that.

No matter what they do it's going to be very hard to trick us like they did a second time. This was an amazing twist but now we're all going to be looking for clues and speculating.
But I'm fine with that, it was a good show even without the twist.

Here is an interesting idea. What if the twist ending is a fake out. It really is the good place and this is all part of a test to see if Eleanor really deserves to be there. Her memory was wiped and they are going to throw all kinds of temptations her way (like her hunky new "soul mate") to see if she really has developed some lasting, inner goodness and finds her way back to her real soul mate.

Or if it's not a "good place", maybe it's a kind of purgatory where flawed but generally decent people like Eleanor and the rest of the gang have to prove themselves before entering the actual "good place". Something they can only do as a team.

S2 will be about Eleanor piecing everything back together. She'll tutor with Chidi and ruin Michael's second attempt. I wonder if she'll be offered a spot in the good place for real (for thwarting Michael) and that will be the cliffhanger- whether she goes or not?

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.

I think Season 2 is likely to start... Just like season 1.

Elanor figures things out quickly and then try to hide it from Michael (just like at first when she found out she wasn't the right Elanor)

However... The plot will make no sense at some point. What ruined the finale for me is the ending. Specifically
The memory loss. Because once Michael realizes she knows, he can always wipe their memory again and this time make sure there is no note. So what's the point?

The whole thing will only make sense if Elanor somehow gets Trevor to stop Michael from going a third time but how much can this show continue?

reply

Michael was given a warning. He's being watched now. If Eleanor figures it out again, Michael won't get a chance to wipe her again, he'll be retired.

reply

Exactly. He can't reset them again because she can't afford to fail. So if they figure it out, he might even help hide it

reply

Yeah I like the idea of her getting Trevor to help her. As to why he would help her? Well perhaps if Michael suceeds his new model will become the dominant platform for the bad Place. While that will amuse a lot of Demons, Trevor doesn't have the patience or the interest to play the long game and just prefers straight up torture and misery.

reply

If Michael's Hell fails again, he won't be given a second chance. This opens the doors for more characters from the Afterlife to step in and play a part as they cleanup his mess.

If they want to make this go for more seasons, it can't be a repeat of S1. So the only plot device that makes sense is, that Michael somehow has to tell them whats happening and ask them to help him to keep this running - or they really go to the fire and brimstone forever holidays.

This way the show could go on for seasons, maybe moving between the "neighborhoods", making up reasons why the squabble and torture each others.

One thing they could do is show more "places". Is Eleanora and her group the only ones that they are playing games with? Is there a REAL good place somewhere else? Do we ever see Trevor's bad place directly? ( Of course the show saved a lot of expenses by confining itself to a few sets, mostly borrowed from other productions).
