How much of this will be real and how much will be based on the myths?

There are a ton of myths surrounding this poor girl. Including this one here:

How much of this do you think will be realistic, and how much of it do you think will just be a film version of some of the lies surrounding this girl and the propaganda that many far right evangelicals have spread?

I am 99% certain that the film is going to have Rachel die in the way it is portrayed in the book Rachel's Tears where she is asked, "Do you believe in God?" and Rachel replies, "You know I do," and then the shooter responds, "Then go be with him," and pulls the trigger. In the trailer, Rachel narrates, "He [meaning Jesus] gave his life for me, I will give my life for him," which is a big red hint that they are totally going to do the martyrdom idea.

When I was in high school, I hadn't read a lot about the actual shooting investigations. I was raised in church, though, and really involved in my youth group, which was the best social avenue for a sheltered extrovert. My youth group had that book and I just loved Rachel. I loved the prayer life she had via her journals, how close she was with the people in her own youth group, how she wanted to live out love and kindness at her school. Although the Columbine details and the idea that she possibly died for her faith are surely what God this book published, they always seemed secondary to me. That was never why I liked her and now that I have seen more details on the shooting and decided the above exchange probably never happened, I don't see why her family has to keep pushing it. It's possible that her family just has to believe it in some emotional way, that it helps them in their grieving and gives it some meaning. I strongly feel for that, but I can't behind promoting the myth.

first of all, this is a movie not a documentary. It happens to be based off of real life events just as other movies based off real events. It does not need to be accurate. Gone with the Wind.

lastly, the movie is based off her diary so whatever she thought is going to be accepted as the "facts" surrounding the events.

The movie is nothing but hateful Christian propaganda. Religion only divides people.

Compassion and forgiveness toward those that have wronged you is a major theme of the film...not that you'd know because you haven't seen it.

You came here to post anti-theist rhetoric about how much you hate religion...while complaining about how hateful other peoples ideologies supposedly are.

First off, snopes isn't some be all end all source of absolute truth. It's a few people clicking links on google.

Second, it's not "martydom," as she was already shot before even being asked about her faith and there was nothing indicating that she'd have been allowed to live regardless of her answer.
She may have already died anyway since she already had very severe gun shot wounds.
