Only witness to Rachel's death says has no memory of any conversation...

...and from what I can tell, her "last words" are just urban legend. He only recalled hearing her crying.

I'm a born-again Christian and I'd be thrilled to hear that her last moments were filled with such impactful words and meaning---but I prefer reality to fantasy. The young man who was next to her was hit by many bullets and has no memory of anyone questioning Rachel. This sounds like a hearsay story which got out of control.

She sounds like a wonderful person who deserves to have her story told. What was special about her happened in her daily life BEFORE her death, not her last minutes of life. However, making money by making movies depends on an uplifting and emotive story, not on necessarily telling the truth.

The Cassie Bernall story was similarly turned into a last-seconds-before-death scene fantasy. Neither the Scott nor Bernall mythology fits what appears in the actual official record gleaned from a careful questioning of all witnesses.

reply

Thank you, hell Cassie Bernall wasn't a martyr either, I'll quote an article that explains what happened

What really happened? Cassie was under a table in the library with Emily Wyant. The shooter looked under the table at Cassie, said ?peek-a-boo? and shot her. She died instantly. Emily was looking at her the whole time and although Emily says Cassie was praying quietly as it happened, no one asked her if she believed in God. On the other side of the room, however, Valeen Schnurr was shot with a shotgun and was also praying ?Oh God.? Klebold asked her if she believed in God and she said that she did. He asked her why and Valeen said it was because she had been brought up to believe in God. Klebold reloaded but walked away. Valeen survived her wounds.

reply

Oh have no fear, we'll have a Cassie movie within the next five years. I guarantee you.

reply

And then they'll have the story of Valeen Schnurr who was actually asked if she believed but didn't get sh--HAHAHAHAHA. Sorry couldn't keep a straight face. They'll never do that since it doesn't support their lie of tragic martyrdom.

reply

Well I gotta correct my own wording a bit. Schnurr was shot, she just wasn't killed.

It's just a movie and it's supposed to tell a story. Even if any of the events weren't true, I hope it's good so that it illustrates that being christian is not different to being a human being (I mean we still have hopes, fears, lives and interests of our own) and being christian doesn't mean life is easier of better. In some other parts of the world, christians get killed all the time! sad! What it does mean though is that we see things differently to other people, that's what makes the difference.

Christian's goals are to show love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Not legalism, moralism, all these other heresies. But to remain in Jesus, always.

unlike a documentary which is to relay facts

reply

So what if a movie claiming to be a true story is untrue? Fundamentalists often use lies like this film to advance their agenda based on a very Machiavellian 'ends justify the means' attitude.

reply

It's propaganda. It's meant to push a narrative that hardcore Christians eat right up.

Even if any of the events weren't true, I hope it's good

If you buy into the agenda of the filmmakers, you'll probably find it good. If not, you'll recognize the bad acting, bad writing and bad overall movie.

In some other parts of the world, christians get killed all the time! sad

Yes, sad! Luckily, we're not talking about those parts of the world. We're talking about the U.S. where the vast majority of people identify as Christian, and in most cases, you still have to identify as Christian to get far in politics.

Christian's goals are to show love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Not legalism, moralism, all these other heresies. But to remain in Jesus, always.

Those are the stated goals of Christians. However, the makers of this film were not going for those things when they made it. They're simply pushing the "Christian persecution" agenda, despite the whole concept being a fabrication.

reply

We haven't even seen the movie yet (at least I haven't); we can't make a decision based off the trailer. But if people want to make movies, let them. Is that not libertarian principle?

It's not harming anyone else. so why does the rule suddenly change?

reply

If I remember correctly Rachel was hit first according to her friend, he stated that was one of the only things he remembered and according to reports she was killed instantly. So they fabricated her death scene for the sake of drama.

Everyone knows, who was around during the time of the massacre, it was common knowledge that it was more of them being bullied and such. The religious stuff came out over a misunderstanding with Cassie right before her death. Even today it is known that both shooters were bullied, mentally unstable and just snapped. Both shooters also grew up in the Church as well so they weren't atheist.
I think I got upset me and made me not want to see this movie is that they said she was killed for her faith when it was known she kept her religious beliefs to herself, even her closest friend told her that.

Yes even after death she has worked wonders in things when it comes to bullying and such with Rachel Challenge, which my 13 yr old son took part at his middle school last year. My son sat down with me and asked what I knew about Columbine since I was senior in HS when Columbine happened so I was the same age as Rachel and the shooters. I remember being in the gym between periods when the news broke of the shooting and everyone ran to the nearest classrooms to see what was being played out. I remember the shock of why boys our age and could it happen in our school.

Either way this movie is made to be a propogranda(sp?) movie on Christianity and nothing more and they are using her story, even if most of it is undtrue, to get more people to join the Church which is sickening in my book.

She was approached by Eric and Dylan. In Rachels Tears, a book about Rachel Scott (which I am reading right now), on page 91-92, it says "According to Richard's earliest account, he and Rachel were sitting outside when they saw Harris and Klebold approaching. Without warning, the two men opened fore, severing Richard's spine and shooting Rachel twice in her legs and once in her torso." Then on page 92, it says "...the shooters began to walk away, only to return seconds later. At that point, Harris reportedly grabbed Rachel by her hair, held her head up, and asked her the question: 'Do you believe in God?'
'You know I do.'
'Then go be with Him.' responded Harris before shooting her in the head."

But in an exclusive set of interviews with this reporter and his assistant, Castaldo has revealed his secret: After Dylan Klebold shot him, Castaldo now maintains, Eric Harris pointed his rifle at Castaldo and asked if he believed in God.

As frightened as he felt, Castaldo said he responded with candor.

“I answered honestly,” Castaldo says. “I told him ‘no’. I told him ‘no,’ and I ‘m alive because of it.”

Castaldo, who was initially sprayed with bullets from Harris and Klebold while sitting outside of the cafeteria, also recalls how his friend Rachel Scott, who sat close by, was felled by the same torrent of gunshots.

According to Castaldo, Rachel Scott did not immediately die. Like him, she was wounded badly and in terrible pain, having been shot several times in the chest and legs. Castaldo’s wounds were in his back, side, and left arm; they resulted in a shattering of his spinal cord and a likely lifelong paralysis.

As the two lay together on the ground, with noise, chaos, and tumult exploding all around them on a high school campus suddenly under siege, Castaldo could hear Scott crying, and tried his best to comfort her.

“I asked in vain if she was okay,” he remembers. “Obviously, I knew she wasn’t. I never got an answer.”

Then moments later, Eric Harris returned to the scene. Castaldo’s memory has wavered over the years concerning what Harris said to Scott. His earliest memory, however, was apparently that when Harris asked her if she believed in God, Scott answered, “You know I do,” after which Harris shot Scott in the head, killing her.

Today, he doesn’t recall her answer, but he assumes that Scott, who was a devout Christian, answered, “Yes.”

"At that point, Harris reportedly grabbed Rachel by her hair, held her head up..."

That's impossible, her hair was too short:

Also Richard Castaldo hasn't been the most reliable eyewitness because his story has changed constantly. Not lying but definitely foggy memories brought on by the trauma and constant media attention pretty much in the immediate aftermath.

I feel after doing some research, his account is the most accurate. She didn't have a close-cropped hair style.
As you can see by these photos, her hair is not short.

I found the below article that you may want to take a look at:

https://attackthesystem.com/2012/04/17/the-survivor-richard-castaldo-challenges-the-official-columbine-narrative/

it basically says that Richard Castaldo who was with Rachel when she got shot changed his initial statement and now says that Harris asked him and Rachel if they believed in God, he said no & Harris let him live, Rachel said yes so Harris told her to go be with him & then shot her in the head.

I am not saying that I believe Castaldo's alternative version which took him until 2012 to come out with, I am just saying I understand why this film would use this version as it fits in with the whole religious theme nicely.
