Remember the part of the Bible that said to never lie?

Did the makers of this movie forget? Or just don't care?

My name is Darth Jar Jar. Master of the Drunken Force technique. All of you will be my slaves.

reply

Probably the latter. They don't care about facts, they just want lies to fit their narrative.

Tell me which scripture says "Do not lie." Good luck.

The commandment most relevant to the topic says "Thou shalt not bear false witness." In Hebrew the words refer to testimony in a trial---not "Do not lie in all circumstances."

Moreover, the Bible PRAISES the harlot of Jericho who lied in order to protect the Israelite spies who were checking out the city's defenses. As a result, she is mentioned in the "heroes of the faith" compilation in the Epistle to the Hebrews. She was also mentioned in the lineage leading to Jesus Christ. (That is, the harlot was an ancestor of Jesus.)

Whether or not a lie is condemned in the Bible depends on whether a RIGHTFUL authority is involved. That is why a Christian hiding Jews from the Nazis is not violating the scriptures when lying to Gestapo interrogators.

So did you forget what the Bible actually states? Or "just don't care"?

(Seriously, I don't think you care about the truth and your ignorance of the Bible caught up with your silly mocking in this case. You made a fool of yourself, as most ignorant mockers do.)

great response!

I want to add that this is a movie not a documentary.

It has nothing to do with lying.

"No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes." Psalm 101:7

"But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." Revelation 21:8

I spent a lifetime teaching Greek and Hebrew exegesis. Do I really need to spoonfeed the context and lexicography to you? Sheesh.

Tell me about your training in lexicography. Tell me why you ignore Rahab's lies which placed her in the Heroes of the Faith Hall of Fame in Hebrews 11. And what is a spy-of-the-land but a 24/7 "liar"? Was Rahab a liar hiding liars? I don't think you've ever read the Bible and paid attention. You are just prooftexting like a non-major dilettante who thinks he can win at stump-the-professor. Goodbye.)

You apparently wasted that lifetime then, since I was able to show you places in the Bible where it says you shouldn't lie in a matter of minutes with no training at all.

It's still funny to watch you twist and turn to try to claim the Bible says lying is OK except when authorities are involved (or whatever that nonsense you went on about was). So, by all means, continue.

Maybe lying is ok when you are lying for Jebus? ;)

And, what is your point?

Can you fly this plane?
Surely u cant be serious
I am serious, and dont call me Shirley

They made a film about a girl's life based upon her diary and based upon what someone that was there reported happening...that's not lying.

Then again, it doesn't much matter to anti-theists that think their version of events is more accurate than someone that was actually at the event.

The problem is that the only witness claims that the shooters never asked Rachel if she believes in God.

I haven't seen this movie yet BUT, perhaps her last words, professing her faith fall under the umbrella of 'dramatic licence' I'm sure it 'pushes their agenda' BUT it would be the same thing as if the movie UNITED 93 (2006) went through the trouble of having an actual peace loving Muslim on board top show that its not *ALL* of 'them'!

I fell asleep during INCEPTION BUT I FEEL like I still saw it!
