Most depressing synopsis I have ever read

This semi-autobiographical dark comedy starring Tig Notaro follows her as she returns to her hometown after the sudden death of her mother. Still reeling from her own declining health problems, Tig struggles to find her footing with the loss of the one person in her life who understood her. All while dealing with her clingy girlfriend and her dysfunctional family.

I get that it's chic again to make "dark" comedy, and I enjoyed Louie and even a bit of Maron (although he's a one trick pony with no delivery) - but come on, nobody wants to see the *beep* life of a wannabe comedienne who's only claim to fame is that she had breast cancer and got a bump out of pity.

You are factually inaccurate on both counts:she was a comedian who was doing well before the cancer bump; plenty of people have been paying to see her dark comedy.http://www.buzzfeed.com/sandraeallen/tig-notaro-and-the-terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad-yet-so#.vi3XPXWq8

"doing well" is a veeery stretchable expression.

Fact is, she was not known to a broad audience before she got the Louis CK bump. And if you have seen her perform, you understand why - she simply isn't funny *and* she is not an entertainer.

There may be a niche audience who likes her, but if you look at the comments she gets for her stand-up, it's 90% along the lines of "why does she get screen time", "she isn't funny", "I didn't laugh once", etc.

She should have stayed in her niche - and Louis CK should never have dragged her out into the world the way he did, because she's not ready for it, so the sudden fame through the "pity bump" hasn't served her well.

It's even more depressing to watch. It feels like they forgot to put the comedy in the dark comedy.

Agree. I just watched it and not only did I not laugh once, the show made me really depressed. What a terrible idea this show was. I love many dark comedies, but I see no humor here.

So true.

So eloquently put sensored, the show is just right for someone like you.
