they have their gig at that dude's house. They are singing acoustically, but there are stupid effects on their voices. How exactly does that work? Larynx wise...

LOL. I know, right. I wanted them to sing different types of songs. Not the generic crap they highlighted in the show. I want them to sound like a 90's R&B girl group. Instead, we saw them twerking.

Exactly that it what I was hoping to Twenty. For once I would like a show that try to have that 90s, 80s, type sound we grew up loving.

Geez, you missed out in the 70's and 80's. No one questioned why the guitars weren't plugged in or the singers didn't have mics on American Bandstand or Soul Train, or why their performance sounded exactly like the record. /Sarcasm

oh, I was around in the 70s and 80s. They weren't on a tv show. They were singing 'live' in that dude's house without a PA system. They had no recorded material to lip sync to.

The whole thing is just too stupid to fathom

Maybe it's cause they weren't on a live TV show? But were supposed to actually be singing at someone's house and not on a national broadcast show?
