Why do they have Naomi Campbell playing a different character?

This show apparently takes places in the same world as Empire since Lucious is seen on the show in a scene that was previewed during the airing of the Empire winter finale last week (that was not a scene from the pilot so I'm assuming the January 4th episode) so I just find it confusing they have Naomi playing some one else other than Camila and we've seen her a lot in Empire and I know that show isn't done with her yet. They better plan a "twin sister" with this route.

Camille dead

reply

Wait, what do you mean "dead"? When the hell did that happen?

reply

Luscious forced her to commit suicide last season.

Goddamn, I must have missed that part. I had to look that up before getting back to you. Still weird seeing Naomi playing a new character in the world of Empire who can easily be mistaken for Camilla. But I came across this site and it seems like we not only saw Camilla actually die but the actress even teases her return:

I wouldn't be surprised if this new character is in fact Camilla under a new identity....

reply

With all they've been doing on Empire/Star, that one would be one hell of a twist.

I just started watching Star.
I haven't paid close attention... yet.
Naomi Campbell is a DIFFERENT character???
I'm lost now. I thought she was a flashback, which would have been a cool tie in.
I'm wrong? Thoughts?
Help plz.

reply

Yes, she is in fact a different character. She needs to turn out to be Camilla. I am so going to tweet this to Naomi Campbell as a suggestion if it wasn't thought of already to tie these shows even closer together.

What are ya'll talking about? Empire and Star are two totally different shows. She has been on other TV shows other than Empire, so what's the issue or concern? I'm lost

reply

Um, did you NOT read my comment? Lucious is APPEARING on this show so it's going to be a CROSSOVER. The issue is, Naomi was already on that show a lot as Camilla and she's here as some one else who would look like Camilla. Lucious is going to be meeting with the husband of her new character, causing quite a confusion as to why Naomi was brought in to play some one else linked in the same world as Empire unless they're planning on having her be Camilla under a new identity.

reply

No. Lucious Lyon is in the same universe as Star. One of the promos was Lucious Lyron asking Lenny's character to join Empire.
