Does Lee Daniels know that people HATED Sparkle?

This show was supposed to be influenced by Dream Girls and Sparkle. All I'm seeing is Sparkle aka trash. This show is terrible and nonsensical. I tried to give it a shot, ignoring the bad publicity and seeing it for myself but I see this show getting canceled. A white lead is not going to "help the Country heal". He kept purposefully mentioning her race out of the blue in every interview he did and rubbing people the wrong way. Lee Daniels is out here begging for a white audience, meanwhile the audience he already had is ready to jump ship from this and his other projects. And he has no one to blame but himself for putting out garbage.

I don't think Daniels I'd trying to abandon his black and Hispanic audiences. This is not Trump we're talking about here. I think this show is good and an hour's worth of fantasy and escapism. From what I heard, the show gets even better throughout the season, especially with the fourth episode.

Well, which Sparkle was he influenced by, the old one or the new one? People loved the old one and I can see it being that one. I didn't hate the new one, just it could've been way better and longer.
