some science i do not get:

1. What will happen to the bodies of the "settlers" when they are living in an environment with barely more than one third Earth gravity? Its one reason why I think permanent settlement on Mars is impossible, the human body needs close to Earth gravity over the long term.

2. Those "drones" were basically tiny helicopters but there is almost no air pressure on Mars. On Earth a helicopter cannot fly at very high altitudes and when people are stranded on mount Everest it is often difficult or impossible to send a rescue helicopter, the air is too thin (birds cannot fly that high either).

3. That guy whose suit sprung a leak? Why did he almost lose an arm? Why would exposure to Mars kill an arm?

reply

The guy who sprung a leak on his suit could have had major frostbite(from the cold), and blood vessel damage,(because of the low martian atmospheric pressure)

The settlers probably would lose bone mass, and height, after a long time on Mars. I also question the wisdom of a permanent settlement on Mars.

reply

Their height would increase with less gravity.

Most of what you said about the drones is true. However, the Ruppell’s Griffon Vulture can fly up to 37,000 feet. Helicopters can fly up to about 16,000 feet, on earth, so it may be possible for drones to fly on Mars, depending on the way the blades are made, and other factors.
