Question about Kiara

Shouldn't she be bigger like in the movie Simba's pride? I imaged she would be grown up in this.

It's difficult to explain because The Lion Guard is retconning Simba's Pride, though it is most likely a midquel of Simba's Pride. No explanation was given as to when Kion was born, but going by Kiara's acceptance of being the future queen in this film, I guess this happens after she had grown out of "What if I don't want to be queen? It's no fun" phase.

Also, in that movie, NUKA said "This graveyard has been even creepier since the hyenas ran off".

I'm guessing that in the final episode, THE LION GUARD will leave to protect another place, which will explain their absence during KIARA's adulthood.

My question is; why is Kiara already so mature for a cub, even more than when she was an adult in Lion King 2?
If the other replier is right, then this show is possibly a retcon of sorts. In the movie, even as an adult, Kiara was still a little adventurous, playful, and sucked at hunting, relying on Kovu to teach her. Yet here, she's giving tips to her friend on how to hunt and how much to hunt, almost like a pro. She must have really come around after singing "We Are One" with Simba.
Also, I wonder if Kovu and Zira will show up? I understand they don't meet up with the main characters of the films again till they become adults, but that doesn't mean Kion can run into them, not to mention there'd better be a good explanation as to where the Lion Guard was when Zira led an army of lion outcasts on Pride Rock.

"NOBODY SCREWS WITH THE WALL!!!"

^ Totally agree.
I'd been expecting this show to take place right after Simba's Pride, with young-adult Kiara--not sometime in the midst of its span. Will be interesting to see whether they address Kion's odd absence during the whole Zira/Kovu mess. :/ And it would be excellent to see them, and--Vitani and Nuka!--again, along with Zazu and anyone else already expected.

Kiara's characterization is also very strange...clearly she changed her outlook on princessdom, but then regained some of her earlier, less serious or more cub-like qualities as she got older...

At any rate, I still think this has some potential. Not that "Zuka zama" could ever be the next "Hakuna matata," of course. Maybe the next YOLO. 😏😓

I understand why they would rework Kiara's characterization; her indecision about taking on the responsibilities as queen was an inversion of young Simba's impatience to take on the role (e.g. "I Just Can't Wait To Be King"), and was enough to hinge the entire plot of the sequel on.

This show is obviously going to focus more on Kion and the Lion Guard itself, and I feel like it would be detracting to try and work in Kiara's Simba's Pride problems as a subplot. Not to mention, now that it's taking place prior to the events of the sequel (assuming that they still happen at all), it would just be retreading events that were already explored fully in Simba's Pride.

I don't get why they chose this time-frame to begin with, but if they want Kiara present as a cub, I can see why they made the decisions they did.

That point makes sense, that it'd feel like too much focus on Kiara if she was still all angsty over the whole princesshood thing...I just...really, really hate inconsistency. I'd rather see her acting as we'd expect her to, with the intent that the audience will remember why--but of course, this is a Disney, Jr., show aimed at children who may not have seen Simba's Pride yet. I'm sure that were it a feature film or even made for the primary Disney channel, we wouldn't have to be wondering about Kiara's attitude.
