Interested in seeing this

I'm actually pretty interested in seeing this, as I was alive and working as a programmer during Compaq's rise and heyday.

I had just started working as a computer programmer when the PC was new. After working with VAX, my boss handed me a PC manual and said "learn this", and I did. Our office eventually purchased a couple of Compaq 'portables computers' but we programmers dubbed them 'luggables', since they were incredibly heavy, and the size of a medium sized suitcase. The screens were tiny by any standards. But we programmers loved them because we could take them home (sometimes to play games, occasionally to work), but they were more ibm-compatible than any of the IBM-branded PCs we had in the office. What I mean by that is that even IBM-brand software was more reliable running on a Compaq than on an IBM machine.

The main issue and the reason why I think our company didn't stick only with Compaq was that they were one of the more expensive brands. Imho, as someone who had to rely on them, I appreciated their greater reliability. But then again, I wasn't the one paying the bills. And btw, they eventually bought DEC (who made VAX and their earlier PDP computers), and then eventually merged with HP. So the brand may not exist. But it's fitting that I'm typing this now on an HP PC.

Sometimes freakishly faster too.
