If you liked Southbound, check out this movie...

Surprisingly, i really enjoyed Southbound, gave it a 7/10.

All you guys should check out the movie Triangle (2009). It is in the same vein as Southbound, but far superior and much more complex as far as i'm concerned. Give it a try!

quite weird as I watched triangle the other day then southbound, triangle actually makes sense, where as southbound was overall a big mess, a well made film in style but a mess in terms of logic

"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds"

reply

triangle sort of makes sense, i agree.

Stop talking with dead people.

reply

they're the only ones who watched this movie.

reply

I see dead people. Holy crap I never thought of old IMDB comments like that before.

Wait.....

Does that mean if I find my old IMDB comments that...I'm as dead as Bruce was in the 6th sense?!??!?

reply

If you can find it, then yes.

I've not only found a few, I've replied to myself šŸ˜±

True story, Triangle is a very good movie. May I suggest more of these like Triangle?
Enter nowhere is very great
Fermat's room
Wind chill

reply

Seen them, except Fermat's room, which I never heard of.
Triangle and Enter Nowhere, were both awesome, Wind Chill was not bad.

You could also watch Haunter, Coherence, The house at the end of time, The Caller, Time Crimes,...

reply

Fermat's Room, awesome movie!

You have to watch Primer and The Cube too

Good luck with Primer though, it will blow you mind....and its scientifically plausible too, that's the best part. Unlike this movie where it abandons any effort to explain itself

reply

Oh and Blood Punch :D

reply

Some interesting looking suggestions in this thread for films I haven't seen. Cheers!

Seeking out Blood Punch, Enter Nowhere and Fermat's Room now - I like the twisty. turny creepy tales.

reply

Surprised that you know Fermat's room! I didn't think it'd made it out of Spain

Definitely good entertainment, that is

Le beau est bizarre

reply

Def agree with you on Triangle. I've watched it a couple of times since and it really makes a lot more sense on repeated viewings.

Two for flinching!

reply

I don't really think you can compare the two. One movie is a single narrative story while the other is an anthology of several stories. And I don't really see how Triangle is in the same "Vein" as Southbound...

It's still a good movie tho, most of Christopher Smith movies are :)

In talking about them being in the same vein I think that the OP is probably referencing the fact that both movies possibly are taking place in some sort of purgatory where characters are atoning for (or reliving) past sins. That's the only connection I see.

Spot-on.

I think that Triangle is absolutely brilliant, so I'm always in favor of someone recommending it!

Asylum (1972) is also very nice:
