Very good + spooky

Just watched the entire series which I thought was very good but confused with the ending

reply

it was brilliant! Hope there is another series

reply

Yup. I watched the last episode with my month open. They absolutely need a second season to explain it. Maybe that's why the writers wrote such a scene in the end because they are probably telling the BBC or the show investors DONT CUT This SHOW!

reply

Yeah I liked it, really hope they do a second season.

reply

Loved it, need season two yesterday.

You'll learn to hate me/ But still call me baby/ OhLove/ So call me by my name

reply

Yeah I thought it was well done, very good performances especially Colin Morgan. I was also a bit confused with the ending.

SPOILER SPOILERS SPOILERS

So due to his loss Nathan can see the dead, and presumably this is carried on through subsequent generations of his family though his great great granddaughter and so on, and also seems to work in both directions through time, so the dead inhabit somewhere beyond time, which sort of makes sense.
But when they find the car at the end that seems to be not only visible to everyone but tangible too, being pulled out by horses, so is everyone somehow trapped in the same place and the 'nature' of the land is somehow tainted like a Stephen King-esque Indian burial ground? Caused by the Civil War massacre?
And the last lines - was that implying he never knocked the glass out of her hand or was there an 'incident' at a later date? Or has the story just been corrupted through time? The masked party at the end seemed like a 1920's type thing so only a couple of decades later than the main events so surely they'd have known any details of a murder?

Genuinely interested to hear anyone's thoughts or opinions or things I've missed.

I definitely don't believe that he didn't knock the glass out of Charlotte's hand. If he had, all that happened afterward would not have transpired including the car being dragged out. Also, she had to have lived, at least to that point, or Nathan would not have had a great great granddaughter at all. It could conceivably be either of your second two options though I felt it would have been an incident that happened after the events of the series. As to when the party took place, it never occurred to me to be a specific time. Fancy dress parties happen all throughout history to the present day and seances in haunted houses have always been popular around Halloween especially among the foolish who don't know to just let the dead live in peace - so to speak. The town, however, had a very "wibbly wobbly timey wimey" aspect, in my opinion. Seems fair when you consider that Colin Morgan played in an episode of Doctor Who. Somethings will just follow a person around forever. :)

I really just want a second series very very soon so all of these questions can be answered. I'm not usually a binge-watcher but this was one series that I just couldn't stop watching until the end.

I got the impression the land surrounding Shepzoy house was some sort of time portal?? As things from both the past and future could actually physically affect Nathans time. I dont know, anyway it wasn't just the car that materialised, there was also a small scene where Nathan looked to the sky and saw a plane trail, so he obviously can glimpse other things from the future.
As for the last lines, someone else has mentioned on here about the possibility of them being about his first wife (the little boys mother). It would make sense actually as I dont think they ever mentioned just exactly how she died.

reply

Exactly. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey. :)

reply

Charlotte definitely did not die before giving birth(by drinking poison), otherwise no great great grandaughter, no.. 21st century car(oh come on, that was waaaay over the top!!) appearing in.. 1894(just imagine how the history of automobiles, oh and plastics, would have changed!), etc etc

Fanboy : a person who does not think while watching.

reply

Ah yeah, good point about not dying before giving birth! I'd forgotten about the aircraft contrails as well, but I when I saw them I remember thinking of that Nicole Kidman film The Others. And yeah I'm pretty sure a VW Golf would stand out in any Victorian farm museum, so I guess we must be looking at some kind of time bubble/damned village type thing. As @deliadee said a bit 'wibbly wobbly timey wimey'! Also one of the creators is Ashley Pharaoh who also did Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes so that would make sense with the whole afterlife type situation.

It was amazing. I need more ASAP!
