A very bad copy of "The little death"

Typical Spanish movie makers making others' works as their own. Blatant copy of The Little Death http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2785032/?ref_=nv_sr_1

reply

I am sorry but you are misinformed.

Firstly it is not a copy, it is based upon "The Little Death" and this has been known ever since the project came into existence. No one, including the director, ever omitted the fact that this was a "remake" of sorts of "The Little Death". In fact this was mentioned over and over again.

Secondly, and this is in response to something you wrote on your spanish post which was omitted from the english version, Paco León is in fact one of the best emerging spanish directors. It would be great if you could elaborate on the reasons why you think of him as a terrible director.

Lastly and most important, this is actually one of those occasions when the "remake" is a lot better than the original.

I am not spanish myself but find your comments misleading, misinformative and disrespectful.

reply

LOL... not Spanish yourself... mmm... Well I am, and live in Spain. And I haven't seen or heard ANY MENTION whatsoever about "The Little Death" ANYWHERE. My wife went to a special screening, we get banged every few hours on Spanish TV about the movie because it was sponsored by one of the private channels, and no-one's ever mentioned "based on...". Quite the contrary, in fact.

reply

Believe me I am not spanish. I've lived here for 16 years but that does not make me a national. We must watch different media then because I was informed all the way about this.

reply

Not only they told it in the media... it is also credited in the film (original screenplay also) and rights are paid. I don't know if the original is better, but the remake is GOOD.

reply

Well, you just have to look the movie poster here in IMDB, and you'll see it. And I wouldn't have said the "Typical Spanish" sentence so freely.

reply

Pues te he contestado a tu mensaje en español.

I regularly watch Días de cine online and they clearly mention the fact that Kiki... is based on an Australian film that was not distributed in Spain. Also, in the credits of the film is clearly stated.

Remakes are a common practice, also, although I am really surprised to find out that it is in Spain.

I have seen both films, and I find The Little Death (2014) vastly superior. Kiki... is an honest re-imagining rather than a copy, but not a good one, IMHO.

reply

I second that. Hope some day some other filmmaker re-imagines The Little Death in a better way.

reply

I havn´t seen the spanish version yet, But it cant possible suck worse than the "original"!
