Yes... it absolutely is. Taking the honor of easily being 2018’s greatest action/spy film is also nothing to scoff at. But hey, to call it that good is only an opinion that the, uh, majority happens to share. On the other hand, those who deem it alright or “surprisingly” mediocre are in a cool minority. What do the majority of critics - and audiences responsible for making it the highest rated Mission Impossibe in various sites - know by rewarding it with so much critical acclaim, though?
Not only is Fallout being hailed as the best Mission yet by so many, but it’s also been regarded as one of the greatest action films of all time. That’s right. Furthermore, apart from appearing in many people’s Top 10 Films of the Year list, it’s been nominated for several not-too-shabby awards (deserves more). All the acclaimed it has received rivals even the praise of some potential 2018 Best Picture nominees—aka “real films”.
Speaking of real cinema, although things have changed a little, it’s utterly lame (for a lack of a more emphasizing term) how to this day extremely well-made action films/blockbusters are still written off by film snobs. Said snobs (and some who enjoy these movies) see these impressively crafted movies as “entertainment only” and lesser than true works of arts. To that I say... pfft! The time, effort and details that are put into movies like Mission 5 makes a lot of those perfectly-scripted and downright artistic dramas look... lazy. Yes, I just wrote that sentence and my non-philistine behind will stand by it!
Anyways, the consensus says Fallout is indeed top 10 material. But again, what do most people know? :)
