...the opening scene of Mission:Impossible 2. Wow, that was really long time ago!

Yes, it was clearly a self referencing homage, only on MI-2 the camera started far away and zoomed in and here it did the opposite, but in both cases the one shot showed clearly that it was Tom Cruise on the shear rock face very very high up. I got dizzy both times :).

except Cliffhanger was faked with green screen thanks to Stallone's paralyzing (but otherwise entirely sensible) fear of heights

I mean the helicopter crash fight on the side of the cliff - it was quite similar to CF in 1993
