that good, wow?

If it keeps on its track with the reviews it may stay on Fury Road level.
And Fury Road was a hell of a movie.
Kinda hyped for this now.

I really don't understand all the praise Fury Road gets. Yeah, it was cool that so much of the action was done practically, but on a narrative level that film was bland as fuck.

MI: Fallout kicks the shit out of it.

It's a fun Mission Impossible movie... Very over the top stunts, some good new scenes and some homage action scenes to previous Mission Impossible movies as well as some other Tom Cruise movies...

It's not as memorable and stylish as the first Mission Impossible movie, but it is as big and as well done as any of the following ones... Rogue Nation, the one that preceded this, is a 'better' movie, but this is on another level in terms of action and adventure... Bring the popcorn and sit back, switch off your brain and enjoy the meyham...

This is what all other action adventure movies wish they could be...

Rogue Nation is better?

No, man.

Rogue Nation is overrated. Even on a narrative level, MI: Fallout is much better.

6.5/10 - pretty ok, but too generic, nothing new, no risks. More an exercise in stunts and action pieces held together by a silly twist & turn storyline about atomic devices. Been there done that. The last two were better.

reply

Very well put. This is how I would describe it.

reply

Yes, it's a hard movie not to like.

reply

Nah - I'd ignore all review sites from this point forth. In fact... have we forgotten the star wars fiasco? Reviewers are all sellouts - at this point, with news media crashing hard (along with their salaries), they'll take any bribe they can get in order to have the next meal.

Yeah, way over-rated. "Critics" seem so stupid these days. There was nothing much new in this MI; the car chases were pretty standard fare which I've seen many times before (tired of cars racing through red lights at busy intersections and avoiding collisions!)--for a really well-done and innovative car chase, catch the 2nd Kingsman movie--and Tom running, so much running! The running scenes could have been cut by 2/3 with no detriment to the movie (um, the guys in the van knew the villain's location--wouldn't it have been easier for them to drive to him, especially using the run-red-light-without-crashing card) in fact would improve it by shortening it.
