Feels like Tyler Perry to me

I've been saying for years that Tyler Perry is a director who has potential. I've also said the reason he's never reached that potential is because he's never failed with any of his work. No matter how badly put together it is, or what messages he chooses to use (TEMPTATION comes to mind immediately as an automatic misstep), he never grows into something more than what he is.

Watching the trailer to this movie reminded me of every film I've ever seen him do. When the actors are talking to each other, they're really talking to the audience. Preaching, if you will. And while this is a tried and true method used sparingly in films that need to explain science fiction concepts when dealing with an artificially created universe, there's little need for it here. There's nothing special that needs to be explained to the audience, you could just get your point across by the characters reacting to each other.

Anyway, what do you think?

You didn't come here to make the choice, you're here to understand why you made it.
