HOLY EFF. Annoying. (Spoilers)

Okay, I haven't read any spoilers or watched a trailer or anything. I went in blind and I'm currently 30 minutes in. The beginning was intriguing enough to continue, but all of a sudden as I thought it was getting good it REALLY PISSED ME OFF. I'm going to follow through until the end, because I'm thinking it might be one of those movies that turns out awesome. I can see potential.
But I'm at the scene where the girl and Kyle walked away from the crowd and he's asking her why she made him leave and she KEEPS ANSWERING EVERY QUESTION WITH A *beep* QUESTION. and I'm sorry but this is the single most annoying scene of any movie I've ever seen. Please tell me I'm not alone and I don't seem like an *beep* I'll return here after I end the movie to see if my opinions changed, haha.

Someone please explain this movie to me because I absolutely hated it. What the hell even happened? He hated his experience so why is there footage of him five years later saying he loved it. Blackmail? How does the wife and kid and everyone else get into it then? And how did Zack and them know that the wife wouldn't even be home when they were at Kyle's house and she was on her way home from swim practice. I feel like I'm missing a big part of the picture and its pissing me off so much because none of this movie makes sense (to me right now at least) please help

If there was a point to this absurdist piece, it got lost in the end. There is no logical transition from having this awful, brutalizing experience that he clearly hated to being an enthused promoter of Rebirth.

It's Amway, google it.

If you've ever been in a cult it makes perfect sense - I could elaborate but it'd take a while.

What hump? 

It's satire, I think. I hope. I thought it was hilarious

One of the worst I've ever seen, a complete nonsensical waste of time. I kept thinking it would eventually make some sense, but it never did. A garbage film.

Yeah this movie was absolutely terrible. It didn't make sense at all....was it a satire about Scientology?

I'm so glad I wasn't alone in my opinion! Thanks! Ha

Hmm. No one seems to understand the movie the way I did, and I really enjoyed it. I was actually really surprised by the poor reviews!

I saw someone compare it as a poor man's The Game, but the game was a complete predictable let down, where as this had me on the edge on my seat the whole time.

The message I got at the end of it, is that Kyle and everyone is convinced Rebirth is an experience that changes your life and makes you a better person, but really they don't realise they just left one cage and entered another.

The people at rebirth, particularly Zack, are brainwashed and conditioned to think a certain way, and believe they're above others and they should be the same. To the point that they're willing to go as far as psychologically torture someone.

It's an exaggeration of cults and religions, most likely satirising Scientology, but the point I saw is that these people aren't as free as anyone else who live without religion or a focussed lifestyle. It's all the same *beep* with a different label.

Kyle was set free from one cage by being forced into another. It's not revelation, it's delusion.

Someone asked why Kyle, 5 years later, was now apart of it. I think for the purpose of saving time, he eventually came around. He had been warn down and broken so much, willing to do anything they wanted, he became brainwashed.

That's just my interpretation of it. I really enjoyed this movie and I'm happy with what I took from it. What more can I ask for?

Besides the message, it was beautifully shot and acted. And sure there were some frustrating scenes, but I felt that was just all a part of it. We're supposed to feel Kyle's frustration. He is the "every man". The film is trying to make you as confused, afraid, annoyed and uncomfortable as he is.

But of course, to each his own.

I agree...Sure there were some annoying and frustrating parts. That how we were suppose to feel...We were like Kyle thrust into an insane situation where everyone talks in riddles and nothing makes any sense. Maddening.
And i think you're right about the transformation..
Kyle got broken down far enough to where it was easier to join them than struggle against the tide..It's like they had him every which way and he just gave in from pure exhaustion..

And in the end he was able to have that same smug self satisfied superior arrogance as all the rest. ..It's easier when you have the upper hand.

Scientology in a nutshell. They break you down, take your money, alienate you from your friends and family, blackmail you and then try to destroy you if you leave them.

I barely made it to the end of the movie, but I hung in there. I thought it was a parody of those pyramid schemes with all of the "natural" Rebirth products that everyone had in their homes: "They sell themselves!"

I thought the acting was excellent and the production values, too, but I didn't enjoy it much.

I too was hoping there would be some kind of explanation but notta, suddenly just jumps ahead where he's Mr. Rebirth! Kept thinking maybe I missed something but apparently not. Was like watching Hercule Poirot solve a murder without telling us how.
