I don't consider myself a prude.

But I definitely did not expect to watch a dude jack off a horse.

I really don't have anything else to say about that.

Fine, I guess, so long as you understand that it's a perfectly common practice among animal breeders (some use their hands; some use a device – either way, both are essentially jerking off horses/bulls/dogs/whatever):

If it still bothers you, I really don't think there's any way that you could say the animal is being harmed by it (if you are worried about animal cruelty, there are a couple of other scenes that are much more disturbing, such as a bull being branded and another one suffering an injury after being trampled by a horse). The only reason the scene is shocking is that it's breaking a taboo.

For what it's worth, the scene is very shadowy and at least when I watched the movie at home (as opposed to on a big theater screen), nothing was graphically visible. It was obvious what was going on, but you can't really SEE it. So if you're going to avoid this movie because of the "ick" factor, know that it's more in your mind than actually on-screen.

This scene was not sexual nor explicit, but comical, although not in a Farrelly Brothers way. The cowboys were trying to steal the semen of a prized horse. It's worth a lot of money.
