This was not good...

This one was a slog to get through. It's a toss up as to whether this or Jurassic Park III was the worst in the series.

i. Even Chris Pratt looked bored throughout this movie. And what a waste of character actor, Ted Levine.

ii. I couldn't figure out which character was more annoying -- the screaming little girl (Maizy), the screaming little boy (whose name I can't even remember just minutes after I finished watching this) or the smug female sidekick.

iii. British actors playing Americans -- Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, American actors playing Brits -- James Cromwell... and none of them getting their accents down. James Cromwell just gives up toward the end... his accent disappears altogether.

iv. The directing was uninspired. No idea who the director is, but he generated no suspense, just cool 'scenes' (Look, here's a dino on a castle framed by the moon!).

v. The story was incoherent, the script was lazy. Arms dealers getting into weaponized dinosaurs is a stupid idea. If you can put a laser point on someone, then sound a whistle to initiate a dino attack, why wouldn't you just shoot the person yourself in the first place? What is the advantage of adding an unpredictable animal to the mix?

We see the dinos easily taken down with tranqs throughout the movie suggesting that they are pretty inefficient as a weapon. For another example, an ankylosaurus would certainly be less efficient than any modern tank at killing large swaths of the enemy and standing up to countermeasures.

The logistics of breeding, housing and maintaining an army of lizards would be impossibly expensive compared to other options, if it could even be done at all.

vi. Special effects were a mixed bag. The dinos were great... no complaint there. But in other places the green screen was noticeable. Weirdly, the scene where Owen is building his cabin looked green-screened. The lighting on him is completely different from the sunlight we see on the background landscape. Shots of the ship pulling away from the island were also 'soft'.

Disappointed...
