The REAL reason behind the bad reviews ...

the reviewers are being honest.

It wasn't the worst movie I've seen, not Starsky and Hutch bad. The cgi was pretty decent. The leads are good. Bryce Dallas Howard is a good actress, attractive, but she looks like Opie with boobs and I can't get aroused about that. Chris Pratt is believable and fun to watch. The gratuitous "we need someone who isn't white" kids were awful, I spent every second of the film hoping they would die. The story was overcomplicated. Great use of shadow and implied violence, thank you for that. The bad guys were twisty mustache evil B-movie villains; what I'm saying is they were one dimensional and boring. Their comeuppance was expected, telegraphed, and obvious. The 'bigger bad' dino was unimpressive to say the least. There were some legitimate laugh out loud moments. The 3D was an afterthought, just see the regular version.

I agree with most of this. The opening sequence was fantastic and I liked the creepiness that J.A Bayona added to some scenes (the claw creeping up the kids bed was excellent) but I started to lose interest once the human characters started to take over. They make dumb decisions and still feel bland. The new characters, especially the techie kid, were annoying. And yeah the villains were ridiculous and their plans to weaponize dinos, that's a plot that feels like it should be in some direct to dvd garbage, not in a big jurassic park franchise.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested- https://youtu.be/h6L_Jlj8OzM

reply

Exactly. How is growing dinosaur soldiers more cost effect and lethal than a laser guided bomb?

reply

It's one of those tropes left over from early sci-fi. It seems like writers have little education or experience outside writing and watching movies.

reply

I finally got around to watching your review and really you are spot on. Like another guy said, it's basically Dino Crisis.

reply

hey, thanks for watching. much appreciated. yeah, the plotting of this was super stupid.

reply

“The story was overcomplicated”

Yeah you lost me and just about anyone else reading this, what part of “we need to save the dinosaurs” didn’t you understand?

reply

Probably just you. The dinosaurs were made in a lab and there is an another island with dinosaurs so there was no scientific reason to save them and the sympathy angle wasn't getting much traction. The business angle of auctioning dinosaurs to pay for new dinosaurs, unnecessary and dumb. And BTW, those dinos probably cost way more than the $10-20 million each in research, development, care, feeding, and rescue, than they were getting in bids. The company paid out over $800 million to settle lawsuits. They could have moved them to the other island. There didn't need to be a clone kid. John Hammond didn't need a retconned partner. The indorapter plot went nowhere and was unnecessary. Apparently they didn't need Owen considering how easily they got Blue. There was a lot of extra stuff that felt like it was setting up the next movie but didn't contribute anything to this movie which is bad storytelling.

reply

There wasn’t a reason to save them? The movie provided about 32 reasons why they needed to be saved, you were probably too busy playing on your cell phone and missed it.

They also needed that money, you make it seem like creating dinosaurs is equivalent to cooking pasta, no it’s more costly and complicated than that.

You also missed the entire subplot of weaponizing the Dino’s, the entire point of the third act of the movie but hey, don’t sweat it champ....most millennials don’t know how to concentrate while watching movies these days.

reply

Can’t you make a point without an insult?

reply

There was a point?

reply

I misspoke, I should have said lcan’t you post without being an asshole?”, but it’s clear he can’t. Everything is an argument. You agree with him, or you’re getting called names. Pretty pathetic.

reply

I don't think he's seen the movie. Everything he mentioned was from the trailers.

reply

Why are you talking to yourself? You’re not fooling anyone here. 😂

reply

I see that’s something you do often. Call people names that don’t agree with you and if there’s a 3rd party, it’s a sock. It’s funny, the ones screaming sock are always the ones with the sock accounts. You’re still a pathetic wum.

reply

You have 34 posts dude, it’s beyond obvious. You’ve been on the site for 5 minutes but know my posting trends already? Obvious sock account is obvious lol.

reply

You do know that people can read posts and not comment right? In any case, it’s just another attempt to distract from the point. You can’t argue a point without making personal attacks. It’s pathetic.

reply

What personal attack? You didn’t pay attention to the movie which is why you found it over complicated. Just pointing out an obvious fact, no name calling from me.

reply

[deleted]

So Millennials don’t check their phones every 2 minutes during movies? That’s news to me pal.

Yes perhaps I should apologize to you because the plot was definitely over complicated and it definitely had nothing to do with your attention span.

reply

That’s a generalisation that can be attributed to anyone. And don’t act like it wasn’t presented as an insult, mr wum.

reply

Old people don’t look at their phones every 2 minutes, that is a fact.

reply

Another generalisation.

reply

Pep - Checking out your other comments, your only purpose on the site seems to be trolling and pimping your worthless youtube trash. LOL

[deleted]

Apparently not but you are fooling yourself and making a fool of yourself.

reply

The OP obviously didn’t pay attention to the movie, I’m just pointing out facts. Nice sock puppet account. 👍🏻

reply

You can point out things without being a dick. Just FYI.

reply

You didn't post any facts. Oh but that's right, old people believe in alternative facts. If it feels good do it, if it sounds good believe it. Feelings 'Trump' facts, right gramps?

reply

Yes the young people who believe in Global Warming should really become doomsday preppers, I know that facts are near and dear to them.

reply

Your "32 reasons" definitely support my assertion the plot was overly complicated. The problem with too many story elements is they can't realize all of them which result in some being dead ends and quite a few more being completely unnecessary. It also takes time away from developing the main characters. But you probably have kids on your lawn to yell at and some Faux News to watch so I'll let you get back to it gramps.

reply

Yes, summer blockbuster movies are very complicated. Maybe you should ask for a refund at Evergreen State University, they’ve obviously failed you.

reply

"Opie with boobs" are you trying make me attracted to Ron Howard.

reply

Did it work?

reply

Not really.

reply

Bryce Dallas Howard is a good actress, attractive, but she looks like Opie with boobs and I can't get aroused about that.

Get real. She's a true Whoa-Man; whether she's Opie's daughter or not is irrelevant.

reply

According to Google you think she is ugly or attractive.

reply

Yeah, that makes sense.

reply

It's just incredibly average and forgettable in almost every single way. One thing a film about dinosaurs shouldn't be, is boring. It deserves all the poor reviews it's getting.

I also hoped the characters cast due to affirmative action died early too, because they were either bland and boring, annoying or served no purpose to the story other than to tick a box on the checklist.

It was also extremely tame for a 12A/PG-13, especially when the original was a PG here in the U.K. and is much more frightening .

reply

Seems like they were more excited about the next movie instead of focusing on this movie. I can only imagine it's going to be TWD or RE with dinosaurs.

reply

Dino Crisis without the blood or scares.

Just way too much going on. Plus I never saw Jurassic World. I still wouldn't have enjoyed Fallen Kingdom, do I don't feel like I missed out. I remember being blown away by the first film. I even enjoyed The Lost World for the most part. I hardly enjoyed the Fallen Kingdom at all. 5/10 in my opinion. Just average.

reply

Dino Crisis, exactly. Forgot about that game.

reply

It's a hell of a lot better than this film.

For the next Jurassic World film, they'll copy Dino Crisis 3 and most horror franchises and put the dinosaurs in space.

reply

Actually dinosaurs in space would be badass.

reply

I'll start working on the screenplay! 😂

reply

See if you can work in laser rifles. I always liked laser rifles.

Deep.

reply

Dallas looks nothing like Opie. She has Rons red hair sure but when I look at her I just don't see much of Ron in her face.

reply

She actually looks more like her mother.

reply

Not much now but when Ron was younger. Ron got squinty eyed over the years.

reply

She has the coloring of her parents but I think she has her own unique look as most children do.
I think she's very pretty.

reply

She is pretty.

reply

I agree.

reply

I agree. I only like movies that get me aroused.
