Why was Gavin Stenhouse replaced?

Was that really a different actor in the pilot? Wow, I didn't even notice. After watching the pilot, I did feel there was something not right with the actor playing FSF. The face was too chubby or something. Then in subsequent episodes I thought the actor was perfect. Now I know why.
