Parent's guide???

Would someone be so kind as to fill-in the Parents Guide section for the episodes?

We were enjoying the show, but there just seemed to be more and more sex (not something we want on TV) and the Michael Moore episode was the last straw. If this last episode or future episodes do not have these depictions, we'd like to pick up the show again.

So... you were enjoying the exploding heads, the war topics, all that stuff. But sex is wrong?

It's a show for grown-ups... why do you need a Parents Guide?

reply

I agree it is a show for "grown-ups" but that doesn't mean every grown-up appreciates or is willing to endure every type of content. That's where a content guide (called the a Parent's Guide by IMDB) is helpful.

reply

So Red graphically blowing a guy's brains all over his wall (then proceeding to eat those brains) is fine, but even the slightest implication of Laurel fulfilling a basic human need (sex) is beyond the pale?

I'll never understand the Puritanical values of some Americans.

Fortunately, you don't need to understand. The OP was simply asking a question about content. A simple answer was all that was requested.

Not everyone shares the same feelings about different types of content. Aren't we are all individuals entitled to have our own preferences? It doesn't seem at all useful to berate the OP or demand that they justify their values.

reply

Don't be a prude. There was nothing wrong with Moore episode, all we saw were their faces.

reply

I hope you mean "we" as in your family because if you mean two grown ass people you really need to get over it, prude. It's CBS, not HBO

If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already

reply

It's not a show for kids.

If the amount of sex that's been on this show so far is too much, then maybe it's better you don't watch it, because, while it's not very dirty at all, it does acknowledge that sex exists and single people have it. Since the Moore episode, there was a funny flashback to that scene in the opening recap and more about the Senator's philandering (portrayed negatively, because no one things adultery is cool, really.) Nothing explicit, but it's there.

May I ask, is it just the acknowlegement of sex or is it the portrayal or the situation of the characters? Not judging, anyone can watch or not watch any TV they want as far as I care about it, just curious.

reply

Thank you... That is helpful! The portrayal is what we'd like to avoid, definitely not the mere acknowledgment.

Oh yeah. Baby I wanna turn your swing state aaalllllllllllllll blue. Oh yeah. Treat me like Flint, Michigan.

You don't mind allowing your child to see a woman being forced down her bed by her husband while she watches aliens dig into her skull eating her alive, but nakedness or sex is a no no. This show has death in various gruesome ways, family violence, threats with a deadly weapon and assault. You Christians have a ideological and morally screwed up sense of normal.

reply

Sex is a good thing between a husband and wife, but the portrayal of other's sex, is not appropriate and can lead to lust. If someone is enticed to violence by seeing threats with a weapon or a ballon with red die explode, I would suggest they not watch such things. I agree that Christians should be consistent... If viewing something leads them to have immoral thoughts or do immoral deeds, they should avoid those things.

reply

wow... no words...

I would ask for peer reviewed research on proof of this, but since you believe some old guy rounded up two of everything and placed them on a boat logic and science is beyond your scope.

reply

I'm curious... Which do you find hard to believe? That sex between a husband and wife can be good or that viewing sex on screen can lead to lust?

"I'm curious... Which do you find hard to believe? That sex between a husband and wife can be good or that viewing sex on screen can lead to lust?"

Well let's apply your logic. Watching someone murdering other people on TV doesn't make me want to kill. Watching sex on TV doesn't fill me with lust. Watching the food network doesn't make me hungry. Sex between a married couple can be good. It can also be rape.

reply

I was with you until the food network - food on TV actually does make me hungry ;o)

reply

Look, here is the thing. Just like the extremists in this series your ideologies are driven by a strong agenda that overpowers your capability over rational though and so you adapt an outrageous position about sexual purity that will make you look like a religious fanatic to most rational people. Don't bother arguing your point, it is not rational and as such will never convince anyone not sharing your bias. There is no point in you making any arguments. No one not sharing your bias will ever be convinced by them. You've chosen the niche of religious zealotry and purist values and you have the right to chose it, but don't demand from anyone to take you seriously.

reply

At least it didn't have g@y sex. Which is a big overdo change in most TV.

If you are concerned about your kids, there is blocking for certain type shows. If you are concerned about yourself viewing something like this, then you probably shouldn't watch. There are far more descriptive shows out there and like the OP said, brains exploding are much more descriptive than the sex. Was it the Michael Moore one as that was completely satirical you were bothered by? The Salami one was much more bizarre, and then you have cheating by Luke. This is definitely not a show for children and probably more like a PG13 show. So I recommend you keep this away from your kids. But if these strange sex scenes bother you more than the bugs or heads exploding, I would suggest that you don't watch future episodes
