very good, yet i expected more

in most cases i am on par with the imdb rating for a film within a 1-1.5 point difference, but with a rating of 8.1 for this film, i expected it to be a bit more clever than it actually turned out to be.

don't get me wrong, i liked the film but i ended up giving it a 6. reason being that it was thrilling until the third act and that's where some problems occur for me.

Spoilers from this point forward.

the first twist, where the preparation expect dismantles the main characters story was fantastic. if they had somehow ended it there, i would have agreed to the over 8 rating. sadly, they had to keep going.

the second one, being that said expert is in reality the mother of the killed guy is the first thing being problematic for me. first of all did nobody else think to himself much earlier into the film, that the expert and the mother look suspiciously alike?

secondly, she got him to confess where the car was to be found. while i agree that forensics experts will find out, that the son actually drowned, all dna and fingerprints will be gone by then.

thirdly, while i admit that i don't know much about spanish law, but are there really countries where a secret taping done by a private citizen, which also has been taken by someone with a "false identity", can be used in a trial?
