Here's an idea for consideration.

Since there's a lot of good info in the boards throughout the entirety of IMDb, such as legit questions people have asked about a scene, plot, etc., why couldn't the boards be left up as read only?

It seems like that would be a decent thing to do and would also serve the purpose of preserving a lot of good info/discussion that is here.

Not saying this idea should spark another petition... just thinking it might be worth pitching to someone... do you think there's a chance Needham would be receptive to this?

If he wanted to get rid of all the off-topic stuff, that could be taken care of over time.

Just a thought.

I received this reply on the GOT board:

It's been suggested to him. People have even asked for archived versions of the board to be posted as torrents. It's a text based message board, the entirety of their data couldn't be more than a couple of terabytes. They'd break it down, I'm sure, alphabetically perhaps. That way you could choose only the torrents which contained the stuff you're interested in, and not fill up your hard drive. They won't even do that much though.

Amazon corporate wants the database slashed and burned. No copies floating around out there. The big studios they've been partnering with in their increasingly active content production ventures have always hated this place. The nerve of us little people, to think we have a right to review and criticize their properties and actors. And they don't even have the power to censor things that anger them. Abomination! This isn't about trolls, or expenses, or phony tech issues. Colin Needham is just a little corporate bıtch who's doing what he's told and feeding us the Amazon company line. Good dog. Don't expect the guy to lift a finger.
